Over 60s
There are not too many cricket clubs out there who are committed to providing playing opportunities for older people.

Mersey Rose Recreationals is one such club. We believe providing "cricket for all" must absolutely mean "for all" - and that includes the kinds of players who would find it difficult to get a game at many other clubs.

We believe that cricket is a great way to stay active, stay healthy and socialise. Sport can have a positive effect on both physical and mental health. This is particularly important for people aged over 60, who will often find limited opportunities to play at many sports clubs.

Our emphasis on inclusion rather than competitiveness means that we are ideally placed to provide opportunities for older people to be involved in cricket. Whether you have a long history in the game, haven't played for years or are a total beginner, there will be a place for you at Mersey Rose Recreationals.

Our chairman, Joe Crossley, is still playing cricket into his 80s and is an inspiring role model for inclusive cricket. We also have a number of other players who are over 60 and enjoying social sport. Cricket is enjoyed by older adults and we see no reason why this should be as spectators rather than players!
