Neurodiversity
Neurodiversity isn't a disability.

Everyone is different and at Mersey Rose Recreationals we value those differences. Each person is unique and will work and think in different ways. We value neurodiversity and recognise it strengthens us as a club. Being inclusive of neurodiversity is a key part of our vision in creating a club where everyone can thrive.

Often neurodiverse people aren't comfortable in bringing their "full selves" to sport. In some cases, sports clubs may not know how best to include neurodiverse people. That is unfortunate because it means clubs lose critical the thinking skills, creative insights, problem-solving ability and innovation that are so vital in any successful sports organisation.

Prejudice around neurodiversity remains. This is often rooted in myths and misunderstandings around conditions such as autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyspraxia and dyslexia. Such misconceptions must be challenged.

We are fortunate enough to have some neurodiverse people involved with the club and we value their service and commitment. We make accommodations to help neurodiverse people and we will work with them to ensure they have the best possible experience at our club.
