Club chaplains

Mersey Rose Recreationals Cricket Club is seeking people to serve as Club Chaplains.

The club would like to appoint a team of people, representing different faiths, to provide pastoral support to our members, volunteers and supporters.

Mersey Rose's membership includes people of various faith backgrounds and none. Club Chaplains would be a trusted and independent source of support, while also providing a link between the club and their faith community. Chaplains are welcoming, hospitable and supportive.

There are no fixed hours and the main role is being a "port of call", supporting club members with e.g. bereavement or other life challenges. However, it is hoped that chaplains will attend some events to build up a positive relationship with members.

Mersey Rose Recreationals Cricket Club aims to support the development of healthy, cohesive communities and recognises the role faith plays in this. Due to the religious affiliations of current members, we are particularly interested in appointing chaplains from Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Buddhist backgrounds, but we will welcome approaches from members of other faith communities as well. Chaplains can be either ordained or lay people. We would expect them to hold positive views around equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), especially towards LGBTQ+ inclusion.

The role is voluntary but reasonable expenses incurred in the course of carrying out the role can be claimed. All chaplains receive a club membership and are welcome to participate in all club activity.
